It is with sincere regret that we wish to officially advise that the 2024 MRA Adult Ulster Solo Championship season will now be decided on the individual Class Points as confirmed and noted at the end of the fifth round of the series. ( ie 13th July Seaforde. )
The Championship Standings and Competitor Points allocations will be attached to this statement.
The Sixth and final round of the Adult Ulster series was always noted as “To Be Confirmed” ( Promoting Club and Venue ).
At the September MRA Association Meeting the only affiliated MRA club showing interest and willing to take on the promotion of this event was actually a Quad based Club ie “Quad Racing Ireland” and they offered their Tinkerhill Newry circuit as the proposed venue for this sixth and final round, with promised help on the day from other MRA club volunteers.
The event details and the usual method of entry was posted on Facebook by QRI and MRA as to how to enter the event electronically.
Up and until Thursday evening (12th Sep.) the Quad Club who it has to be said were only trying to help ensure the Six Round MRA Adult Ulster SOLO Championships were finalised, had only 17 confirmed Adult Event Entries at this point.
This entry could perhaps have increased to possibly 36 / 40 on the day.
To help understand why it isn’t viable to run an event with these numbers.
An event with only an entry of 40 competitors and some paying spectators would only generate
£2,300 with club costs of £3,375 a loss of £1,075
Same event with only 17 competitors x £45 = £765 + £250 spectator contribution = £1015 a loss of £2360
Costs include Track Hire, First Aid, Flag Marshalls, Insurance, Prize Money etc. all of which are essential.
Quad Racing Ireland or any MRA Club can not reasonably be expected to promote events at a substantial loss.
Kind regards
MRA
