IMX Cadet Class
The points and results of this class are currently under review by the MCUI Motocross Commission.

The MCUI Motocross Commission met September 7 to discuss an issue that had
been highlighted by some guardians.
It was determined that an error in the introduction of rules concerning eligibility has been made concerning the IMX Cadet class 2026.
Due to this error, the points for the riders from the Cadet class only from the round at Tandragee on August 22 have had to be dropped from the total IMX championship totals.
On February 20 last, the Commission met and agreed to change the rules of the IMX Cadet class to restrict the ages of riders to between 6 and 8 years of age. A decision was made to implement these changes in the 2026 season.
Due to the late implementation of this rule, some riders may not have been aware of the rule change from 2024 and had entered as a cadet and scored despite being over the 6 to 8 age bracket.
On examination of the Constitution of the MCUI, it was determined that changing an Irish championship rule requires that this change be approved at an MCUI Inter Centre meeting.
This was not done at the previous 2025 Inter centre meeting in December 2025.
Consequently the rule change can not affect the 2026 IMX championship
In effect, the previous rule from the 2024 championship still applies and any rider in the 65cc class who is racing their first year in this class can race as a “cadet”.
We appreciate your understanding of this situation and If there are questions from any of the Cadet/Junior class please contact the Motocross Commission at
