The SCCFR received their cheque in August and the Mourne club caught up with members of the MMRT recently at the Millbrook Lodge Hotel, Ballynahinch, to present them with their cheque for £1,500.

Speaking after the presentation Paddy McCartan spoke about the vital work of the MMRT: “We are 100% volunteers, 24/7, no matter what weather or conditions, you can always call on the mountain rescue.

“It could be a line rescue or a high mountain rescue. It could be for a farmer or a walker. We’re always there to help out.

“The money will go towards new gear for team members, new kit for rescues and towards the base.

“We really appreciate the donation. From myself and the Board, I want to offer my sincerest thanks to everyone involved and everyone who donated.

“It’s a genuine pleasure to link in and spend time with groups like the MMC. It’s what community is all about and we really wouldn’t be here without groups such as yours,” he said.
